Tusaajiit Translations is at the leading edge of English-Inuktitut translation services in Canada.
As the language evolves, as it must do, as the modern world is introduced to an ancient indigenous culture, new words are introduced and made to become common usage.
Tusaajiit Translations head translator and real-time simultaneous interpreter Suzie Napayok-Short plays an active role as an advocate for the traditional use of the different dialects of Inuktitut. Suzie is also a certified court interpreter with extensive experience. She is considered one of the foremost scholars of the Inuktitut language by many in Nunavut and the Northwest Territories.
Tusaajiit has a unique advantage over other veteran translation services because of its commitment to continual professional development, including a leadership role in recent Inuktitut legal terminology workshops held in Iqaluit. Through constant usage and the ambition to push for evolution of the language through development of new words for inclusion in the Inuktitut dictionary, Tusaajiit Translations remains a leader in professional and accurate translation services.
Tusaajiit Translations maintains a large base of archives, files, records and reference material on the pronunciation and spelling of Inuktitut words as they change between communities located in the Kivalliq and Baffin regions of Nunavut and within their individual dialects.
